The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is investigating Northwestern University for allegedly failing to protect Jewish students during the campus protests that followed the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attacks.

If, as expected, the full City Council approves the switch to “skill-based hiring,” Chicago would join the cities of New York, Philadelphia and Minneapolis-St. Paul, in “tearing the paper ceiling” that requires college degrees for most city jobs, an advocate of the proposal said.
